Mother is a Verb.
As the world pauses to celebrate mothers, I want to honor the verb of mothering.
Because mother is more than a title—it’s an action.
It’s the gentle way she brushes the hair from a tear-soaked cheek.
The warm meal she drops off at her neighbor’s doorstep.
The encouraging word she offers to the cashier who looks like she’s having a rough day.
To mother is to nurture.
To hold space.
To pour love into the cracks and crevices of another’s soul.
Some women mother their children.
Some mother their moms.
Some mother their sisters, their friends, their co-workers.
Some mother their partners, their pets, their passions.
And some women mother themselves—the hardest, most beautiful kind of mothering there is.
So, whether you’re rocking a baby to sleep, comforting a friend, or reminding yourself that you are worthy of the same love you give to others,
You are a mother.
Today, we honor you. For the way you love, for the way you care, for the way you show up.
You are seen. You are loved. You are enough.
Happy Mother’s Day.
